Bridge Work

At South Shore Dental Arts, we provide comprehensive treatment options including the option for a fixed bridge. A fixed bridge is a dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap between two or more healthy (abutment teeth). The bridge consists of prosthetic teeth (pontics) that are attached to crowns placed over natural teeth or dental implants. Once in place, the bridge is fixed in position and cannot be removed by the patient.

Why Choose a Fixed Bridge?

  • Stability and Durability: Fixed bridges are securely anchored to adjacent teeth or implants, providing stability and durability. This stability allows for confident chewing and speaking without worrying about the bridge shifting or moving.

  • Aesthetics: Fixed bridges are custom- designed to match the color, shape, and size of the natural teeth, ensuring a seamless and natural-looking smile. The pontics blend seamlessly with the surrounding teeth, restoring the appearance of a complete and healthy smile.

  • Convenience: Once a fixed bridge is securely in place, there is no need for daily removal. Patients can care for their fixed bridge by regular brushing and flossing. We typically recommend the use of floss threaders to help clean under the pontic teeth to keep the teeth healthy.

  • Cost-effectiveness: In some cases, fixed bridges may be a more cost-effective option compared to implants, especially when replacing multiple teeth. The treatment process for fixed bridges is often shorter and may require fewer appointments compared to dental implants.
